Wayne Community College will hold an information session for individuals who are considering going into the insurance field.
The session will be held 5:30-7 p.m. on March 31 in Rooms 101 and 104 of the Walnut Building on the college’s campus in Goldsboro.
It will include a panel discussion on the risk management and insurance industry, jobs, salaries, and internship possibilities. Panel members will also take questions from session participants. The panelists will be Gaston Lewis with O’Berry & Lewis Insurance, Sheri McKee with Atlantic Casualty Insurance Company, and Stuart Powell with the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina.
Other insurance professionals will be on hand to discuss prospects in their agencies.
WCC instructors will be available to discuss the college’s new Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) associate degree program, the first one fully implemented in a North Carolina community college.
The RMI program was instituted at the request of local insurance agency professionals who saw a need for more claims adjusters, insurance agents, and underwriters.
Among the advantages of WCC’s program are the flexibility allowed by online courses as well as traditional and evening options, small classes of 15-20 students, and courses with zero textbook costs.
